  There are eight Great Gods who preside over the realm of
  Zombie. Beneath them in rank are the Patron Saints and
  still lower, the Small Gods. Shrines to every deity in the
  entire land can be found within the Church of All Gods in
  ZombieCity. Various other shrines and altars dedicated to
  specific celestial beings can be found when exploring the
  realm. Should you wish to know more about each God, seek
  out Brother Maynard in the Church of All Gods, and he will
  be glad to guide you further.

Kirvana, Stormbringer fire, destruction Evil Aquaris Fire, Harming Constitution

Xellios, The Hunter wind, nature Sli Good Gruumsh Wind, Preventive Dexterity
Silvain, Hand of Justice goodness, healing Very Good Teros Healing, Resurrection Wisdom
Teros, Butcher of Souls evil, death Very Evil Silvain Harming, Draining Intellect

NOTE: Clerics that hit the opposite end of the spectrum from their gods' alignment are penalized faith points. IE. In Gruumsh's case, the further you get into 'good', the worse the penalty. Should you become more evil that sli evil, you will not be penalized.

You will receive quite a bit bonus for destroying enemies of your god (but only when using cleric spells).

Spells favored by your god will be more powerful, for instance, Fire/Harming type spells are more powerful in the hands of kirvana's priests. In general, casting a spell from the sphere of your god is looked upon with favor and you gain faith in them. Casting spells from the opposite sphere(s) can have a very detrimental effect with your standing in the church.

As well, your god often lends power to her allies' spells. Silvain, for instance, will often allow you to gain faith from destroying undead and from wind spells.

The par that is of most interest to the genreal churchgoing (non clergy) public is that each god has a stat association. The god or goddess will grant her faithful a small bonus to whichever stat is associated with her name. This includes all non clergy.

Selecting a god is very permenant until the player reincarnates. If you wish to keep a happy priesthood, make sure that anyone you convert knows this.

Non clerics, if you wish to make a cleric friend, and receive resses happily, you will make friends with a specific cleric and allow that cleric to use the 'convert' skill upon you, granting that cleric an enourmous amount of faith points.

Picking a God

Each character can worship one God. The only way to change your selection is to reinc, so choose carefully. Each God conveys certain bonuses and expects differnt things of it's followers. When picking a God you want to consider which will provide worthwile bonuses while having requirements that fit your game play.

Bonuses

Your worth to your god is measured in faith poins.

Periodically your god will determine if you are worhy of his blessing. If you fial you will get a message like:

You feel the eyes of the Gods themselves upon you.
Lightning arcs across the skies!
Belinik rumbles 'BACK TO THE TEMPLE WITH YOU, SOLDIER!'
Your favour in the eyes of Belinik was too base to warrant His blessing.

Success:

You feel the eyes of the Gods themselves upon you.
Lightning arcs across the skies!
Belinik rumbles 'AHH! FINE WORK! A WORTHY RECRUIT TO MY ARMY OF THE SKIES!'
You tingle as the Divine Strength of Belinik flows through your bones.

Requirements

Pleasing your god

Especially as a cleric, it is important to stay in the good graces of your god. This is done by

1) Staying the required alignment of your god

2) Casting the spells that your god grants you bonuses in

3) Destroying the enemies of your god (you can see what god a monster worships by casting "detect alignment" at it)

After any individual act, a cleric can use the skill commune to see how much his god liked/disliked the act.

Disallowed Guilds

Due to frequent questions over this, I'm restating the rules on
joining guilds if you are the follower of certain gods. I know I mentioned
this somewhere else, but it eludes me where.

GOD             GUILDS DISALLOWED

Kirvana         Paladin, Mist Walkers
Gruumsh         Order of Light
Silvain Warlock, Death Knight, Thief, Necromancer, Order of Shadow
Teros Druid, Healer, Paladin, Order of Light
Aquaris Necromancer, Death Knight, Warlock, Order of Shadow
Xellios         Terran Knights

Faith points

Upon reincarnation, you may keep any faith points you have received, but ONLY if you worship the same god as your previous incarnation. I HIGHLY advise that you worship your god (at the altar 2 north) as SOON as you reincarnate, otherwise there is a possibility of lose of faith points.

FAITH POINTS (Mobius, Oct 30)
~~~~~~~~~~
 As mentioned in the post on gods, there now exists
 'faith' within the guild and among the god's chosen.
 Casting spells of a sphere akin to your god or
 goddess is considered good faith, while casting
 spells of your god's sworn enemy have a detrimental
 effect on your faith.
 The exeption to this is that you receive no faith
 bonuses or penalties for healing yourself.  This is
 considered by all gods to be second nature and as
 such none of them will grant you any boon or bane.
 (However, it is rumored that some evil gods will
 punish their followers who heal others).
 The effect of faith is quite drastic.  As you gain
 faith you will notice your spells begin to gain
 effectiveness, both in terms of damage/healing
 maxxes, as well as ratios.  Faith points also
 determine the maximum rank you receive within your
 church.  Upon using the 'commune' skill, you will
 be given your current rank, as well as how close you
 are to achieving your next rank.  The steps go as
 follows:
        in an eternity
        in a long time
        in a very long while
        in quite a long while
        in a long while
        in a while
        in a little while
        in a short while
        soon
        very soon
        extremely soon
        anytime now.
 When you see that you can advance 'anytime now',
 you should go to your altar
 and 'advance'.  The only time you will not be able
 to freely advance is in the highest ranks of your
 church, where only a select number of clerics may
 hold any given rank.  To take the rank from them,
 you must either way until they reinc out, or have
 not logged in for 14 days.  Upon doing so, they
 will be demoted by one rank.
 Upon gaining new ranks you will notice yet other
 bonuses to your spells, all of which you will have
 to figure out on your collective own. (Yes, the
 system is very complicated).
Your God's favor
The ability to actually worship and sacrifice various things to each of the eight Greater Gods of the realm to gain what is known as 'favour' in their sight.
The Gods themselves now take more notice of the daily comings and goings of the pious, and should they take notice of you, high favour will often bring forth bountiful blessings. If you fall into disfavour, then you run the risk of becoming the target of their fury.
Each God is different, so each God asks for something different from their worshippers. Some desire items, some desire song, and some desire blood sacrifice. It is up to you to learn about your God and what He or She truly desires.
Should you wish to know your level of favour, simply use the commune skill available to all within the Holy Clergy. For those poor souls who are not a true member of the guild, Brother Maynard within the Church of All Gods offers this same service for a small donation. Simply go there and ask him about 'favour'.
