Even though you can see in the dark, your companions might be nearly blind when the darkness falls. Then it is convenient to have a light source with you. And even though one can see in the dark it can be more pleasant to work in the warm light of a lantern. This ability summons a lantern for you, which even though it is an illusion, gives off a very real and warm light.
